Northumberland County

Northumberland County is a microcosm of American industry, including steel fabrication, wood products, food processing and packaging, paper products, plastics, textiles, recreational vehicles and equipment, chemicals, and medicinal drugs.  Producers such as American Car & Foundry, ConAgra’s Grocery Products Division, Celotex Cooperation, Creative Playthings, Fleetwood Enterprises, Furman Foods, Holland Daily Fresh, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Packaging Resources, and Weis Markets all have major operations in Northumberland County.  With a growing branch of the Luzerne County Community College in Northumberland County, businesses enjoy the added pool of available trained workers.  Geographic and population diversity is the hallmark of this Central Pennsylvania County with important communities dotting the county landscape, including Milton, Sunbury, Shamokin, and Mount Carmel.
